Doulas have been used traditionally for centuries across many different cultures and are thought to be the forerunner to midwives. They are trained, non-medical professionals who provide continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to women before, during and after childbirth, to facilitate the best possible birth experience.
My postnatal doula services work with families in the few months after your baby is born, to offer emotional and practical support in the home. The support I offer helps you to become the mother you want to be. It provides a calming, supportive and helping presence to meet your needs. I believe that all mums need support, and I will tailor the support I offer to meet the needs of you and your family. Whether that be support with feeding, giving you a break for some much needed sleep, help with siblings, an extra pair of hands or a listening ear. (And I always bring food!) Creating a calm nested environment for you and your baby is key in these first few weeks, I can be there to ensure your needs are met so you can care for your baby. This can be particularly important following a challenging birth. In many cultures it is unheard of for a new mother to be up and about doing housework, cooking and cleaning, greeting guests and caring for siblings. The postnatal period is for recovering and bonding for both baby and mum. I am passionate about bring back that calm, supportive, nurturing environment so you can put all your energy into your recovery and your new baby.
